New redistricting tradition intercepted by protests

redistricting (Small).JPGHere's how the new tradition went down in the House:

House members lined the center of the chamber, preparing to peer into the Senate as they passed its redistricting bill. The Senate coincided its vote on the House's redistricting bill.

But they didn't quite match up. And the House passed the bill before the doors opened. When they did, the chants of about 40 educators and parents barreled into the chamber. They were protesting education funding cuts.

The door shut quickly.

House members shrugged and went on to pass the Senate's revenue generating bill.
