From Metro Desk editor Mike Drago:
Gov. Rick Perry, fresh from Tuesday's re-election victory, was off and running on his book tour today. He has national TV and radio appearances set into next week to tout Fed Up!: Our Fight to Save America from Washington.
And, everywhere, he'll be asked about his national ambitions. Is he planning a run for president?
On NBC-TV's Today show, he repeated what is becoming his mantra: His book does too much Washington-bashing to make a presidential bid possible.
"Anyone running for the presidency is not going to go take on these issues with the power that I do," he told Meredith Vieira. Here's the video:
On Coffee and Markets, a podcast that reports on politics and business from a conservative perspective, Perry was asked again about the possibility of taking his small-government ideas to the White House.
"I will tell you, I truly believe that I've got the best job in America," the governor said. "I am not interested in being the president of the United States.
"I hope someone -- man or woman, whoever that may be -- stands up over the course of the next 18 months and says to America, 'Elect me president and I will get this country back to where it needs to be economically and try to make Washington as inconsequential in your life as I can make it.' "
Perry also appeared on Fox & Friends and on Glenn Beck's radio program.
The photo at the top is from Perry's Twitter account. It shows Perry with Beck, whom the governor describes as "a great American."
