Gov. Rick Perry signed off on tapping the rainy day fund today. Yet he seemed so adamantly, sincerely, immovably against it just two weeks ago when we asked him about it:
Perry reiterated that he is against using any money in the rainy-day fund, which is expected to grow to $9.4 billion by August 2013."I will be rather vocal about my opposition," said Perry, in Washington to meet with fellow Republican governors.
"And I don't think that will be coming to my desk anytime soon," he said. "I'm not for getting into the rainy-day fund. There is substantially more work that we have to do, looking for places to reduce spending, etc. Having that conversation at this particular juncture is way premature."
