Ron Kirk says he won't run to replace Hutchison

I just got off the phone with U.S. Trade Rep. Ron Kirk. He says he's not interesting in running for Senate in 2012.

"I've got a job," he said. "I enjoy working with President Obama. I'm excited about what we have done."

When Kay Bailey Hutchison signaled that she would not seek another term in the Senate, Kirk's name surfaced as a possible Democratic contender for the seat.

Kirk added that he's not going to run for his old job as Dallas mayor.

Mayor Tom Leppert is unlikely to seek a second term in City Hall.
