Jean-Jacques Taylor Loves Him Some ?Poppycock?

A complete accounting of each instance in which Dallas Morning News sports columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor has employed the word “poppycock” in his writing, just because I care about these sorts of things:
December 4, 2007: “Mike McCord, the Cowboys’ equipment manager the last 13 years, assigns numbers to free agents, rookies and new players. McCord wants [...]

Ted Cruz latest to join race for Hutchison's seat

Ted Cruz, the former solictor general under Greg Abbott, became the latest candidate to declare for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Hutchison announced last week that she wouldn't seek re-election to the seat she's held since 1993.

Cruz, 40, filed the official paperwork and announced that he would "fight for limited government, less spending, lower taxes, individual liberty, and preserving the Constitution."

He said he would try to end the national health care act, cut spending, reject earmarks and attempt to pass a federal balanced budget amendment.

Other Republican entrants into the race, or likely soon to announce, are Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Railroad Commissioners Michael Williams and Elizabeth Ames Jones, and former Secretary of State Roger Williams.

In the Conservatives quest to gain impressions for their message in the news — paired complimentarily to the media’s quest to sell newspapers and television advertising — new election-style ads are out from the party. Super Friends!*

If it wasn't clear before this morning's welcoming ceremony, it's clear now what Chinese President Hu Jintao is doing in America this week, and why we invited him. He's here to formally introduce his country as a superpower. We asked him to come so that we could get this new relationship off on a good foot. President Obama gave President Hu a 21-gun salute; President Hu gave President Obama a series of massive economic deals. (Two-hundred Boeing jets, a railroad contract with G.E., up to 235,000 jobs-worth of free stimulus: it sure beats a bottle of merlot.)

Of course, it's possible to see this latest visit by a Chinese leader as one in a continuum, and doing so is certainly in the American interest: it maintains the image of a fatherly king guiding an adolescent prince to responsible manhood. No surprise, then, that Obama painted it as such in his remarks.

But really, who can quite believe it?

Though these visits have gone on regularly for nearly 40 years now...
